TVW Golf Tournament 2012
The last several months have been good to TVW. TVW recieved grants moneys to purchase 70 new chairs for ACCESS and Vanguard, which are the ATE (alternative to work) sites for TVW. Adults with disabilities who attend these programs are either retired or unable to work. These programs focus on each individuals needs and interests.
More grants were received from the City of Hillsboro and Boeing. The funds are being used to purchase 20 new computers for the Technology Center at TVW. The addition of these laptops will enable TVW to purchase more complex and comprehensive programs to train adults with disabilities academic skills and monitor their progress. The programs focus on each individuals area to improve and provide personalized training for each persons needs.

TVW Open House Drew over 150 attendees
TVW has been blessed this season with a donation from Boeing for 10 new laptops for the Technology Center! In addition the city of Hillsboro has donated $900.00 for 2 additional brand new laptops! TVW hosted the 45th annual Open House and silent auction on October 25th, with over 150 in attendance. The second annual auction brought in revenues of $1382.07. The goal was $997.00, which was needed for Vanguard to purchase 50 new chairs with arms for the clients who attend there. The funds will be combined with a grant for $1000.00 from the Dal Baker Trust. TVW was recently featured in the local paper highlighting a client who became disabled after being hit by a drunk driver. The article really captured the heart of the work done here at TVW. Attached is the article. Vanguard is the division of TVW that supports adults with disabilities who are unable to work. It is a community inclusion program for individuals who would otherwise be home-bound. Vanguard activities include community outings, games, computer time, art, and socializing with others. The goal is to enrich each person's life with activities suited to their needs, in a safe and positive environment. TVW was chosen by the City of Hillsboro to supply 500 handmade paper leaves embedded with wildflower seeds, that will be taken to New York city. Hillsboro was chosen as a finalist in a nationwide contest. The city will be distributing the leaves to promote Hillsboro. One of TVW's clients family is running a Christmas Tree Stand in the Kmart parking lot at the corner of Murray and TV Highway. They will be opening on the day after Thanksgiving. A portion of each sale will be donated to TVW. If you buying a fresh tree, consider buying one from these generous people and helping TVW at the same time. Thank you to all who have supported TVW over the past year. Without your help, adults with disabilities would be confined to staying home all day. Happy Holidays!

Things have been busy around TVW. The United Airlines Clipped Wings Philanthropy along with the Dal A Baker Trust granted funds for a 51 inch flat screen, wall mount TV complete with DVD/VHS player, installation and all the trimmings. The TV can be hooked up to a laptop for group classes or used for training purposes.
Dal A Baker also donated $1000.00 toward the purchase of new chairs for Vanguard, TVW's day workalternative.
Boeing will be visiting TVW on Friday to possibly fund 10 laptops for an expansion of the Technology and Learning center. TVW is preparing a individualized curriculum for our clients to prepare them for customized employment. Customized employment is a emerging trend for people with disabilities. It is based on the individualized determination of each person's strengths, needs and interests, along with the specific needs of the employer.
TVW's goal is to be ahead of the trend and have our disabled clients trained and ready for the transition to customized employment.
