Summary

Mi Valedor wants to continue providing training, adequate space for coexistence and professional support to poor, marginalized and often homeless individuals in Mexico City. We currently work alongside a network of over 20 individuals and have a mental health program to give them free psychological therapy, a social network for they to trust and an open space for artistic expression which results in collective exhibitions to help them generate an income. You can help us to keep it real!

Challenge

In 2018 an estimated 8,000 people lived on the streets of Mexico City. Now, after a global pandemic, rising poverty and unemployment, this number is expected to rise drastically. The most vulnerable will be the hardest hit and urgent action is needed to ensure decent housing, education and employment opportunities for all, but especially those most in need. Most of these people doesn't have the right to take care of their health, not even to get a accurate diagnosis.

Solution

Mi Valedor provides continuous training opportunities alongside one-on-one psychological support for poor, marginalized, and homeless populations. Our beneficiaries actively participate in the production of cultural products and through its sale can obtain a steady income. Our weekly workshops develop their social skills and create healthy environments that take them away from violence, crime and substance abuse.

Long-Term Impact

For 8 years we have helped over 3,000 people, providing tools for social and economic reintegration into society. Many of our beneficiaries now have access to decent housing, have received some type education, and hold steady jobs. In this latest project, we hope reach over 300 new beneficiaries helping them rise out of poverty and homelessness. Your one-off or regular donation today will enable us in continuing our vital work to ensure we are there for our Valedores now and in the future.
