Encouraging the scientists of the future!

By Jocelyn Brambila | Project Leader

Hello everyone!

Holiday season is rapidly approaching and we are HAPPY to give you a follow up from one of our favorite programs.

“I want to, I can… think like a scientist” successfully ended and it’s our pleasure to share with you our results and testimonies from our time with the children of Tlaxcala.

Our main goal was to inspire, interest and involve children in chemistry and scientific thinking, of course, with the close participation of both teachers and parents.  A total of 10 schools, 17 teachers and 461 students participated in the program. During this time, conferences were offered to parents and 196 successfully participated in them.

The program was well received and before its ending, 100% of teachers, parents and students that participated recognized the importance of science and chemistry.

Here are a few testimonies:

“Since we started the program I feel like my classmates pay more attention, although they still take their time, but that’s okay, because as long as they keep coming to school, they’ll learn more, that’s what’s really important for us… my teacher is now much happier, talks to us more and I think she’s a better teacher now.”

-Student, elementary level

“I learned from all my colleagues… the workshop helped me very much and has made it easy for me to put it in practice, because I could see the change in my group, especially with some subjects; the students themselves were able to recognize this and that makes me very happy. I think this program and working with students is something productive, not at all a waste of time, it has awakened interest.”

-Teacher, elementary level

“With this program my son has changed and it has helped him very much because he has learned how to accept himself just as he is, he now values what he has, he respects the people that surround him and helps out around the house.  I want to thank all of the people involved in this project, especially members of the organization for thinking about our children and their wellbeing.”

-Parent in Tlaxcala

We are sad that this program ended but are looking forward to encouraging students everywhere to learn about chemistry and all sciences.

We’ll get back to you soon with more news of our various programs.

Happy Holidays!
