Thank you so much for making this happens.

By Iyyappan Subramaniyan | Founder Managing Trustee

Dear friends,

Greetings to you from the special children of Sri Arunodayam!

Sri Arunodayam is happy to announce that our current project https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-mentally-challenged-destitute-children/ is fully funded. Thank you so much for making this happens.

Sri Arunodayam would like to say a big “Thank You” for being our partner and friend! We deeply value your support and hope to connect with you as often as we can. Because of you, our dream that commenced in 2002 still continues to be successful, as we provide services to those who have a limited ability to advocate for them.

From a single child in 2003, Sri Arunodayam has come a long way. We've rescued 320 children of which 88 have been reunited with their families, and 56 were transferred to other homes for specialized care. Due to the nature of their illness the mortality rate of these children is high. Despite providing the best medical care we can afford, many of them don’t make it. At present, we have 106 precious lives in our care.

Thus, from a simple home providing shelter, care, and protection, Sri Arunodayam is now a facility that is also focusing on rehabilitation through education and therapies that are helping improve the quality of life of these children, enabling them live as independent individuals contributing to society.

I would like to share a story that will narrate you that how your help has been making an impact in the lives of our children at Sri Arunodayam.

Sai Lakshmi is 2 ½ years old. She came to us when she was just two months old. She is mildly challenged, with developmental delay, hemiplegic, and has a tumor on her brain stem.

She had no head control, was very tiny and fragile, her muscles were flaccid and she could only lie in bed and do nothing else. She also had tuberculosis (of which she is now cured). Our care and regular physiotherapy has almost completely changed her. Swiss ball exercises helped her gain head control and the therapist is working to strengthen her hip and abdomen muscles. She can now sit for long periods and even walk with a baby walker!

Sai Lakhshmi is one of 106 children at Sri Arunodayam - a home for abandoned mentally challenged children, in the city of Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, India.

Around 16% of the home’s children are mildly challenged, 23% moderately challenged, 38% severely challenged, 19% profoundly challenged, 2% are spastic, and 2% visually challenged.

We are happy to inform you that we have created a new project https://www.globalgiving.org/dy/v2/pe/project-edit/edit-page-1.html?project.projId=24545 and request you to continue your support to Sri Arunodayam.

On behalf of Sri Arunodayam we wish you continued happiness and peace.

Thank you so much,
