These 3 months have been great for THAP. One hundred children and families came out to hear Robbie Schaefer and his team from OneVoice raise awareness of heart disease in Kenya. Robbie traveled from the US to Kenya and visited the Take Heart Association Project (THAP) families. A fun time was spent with the patients, families and community residents.
Five children received successful surgeries in India and Kenya as follows:
Felister Wangari was operated at New Hope Hospital in Chennai India in April 2012; James Mwambi and Caleb Maina were operated at Narayana Hospital in Bangalore India in March 2012; Victor Kamau and Samuel Ndegwa were operated at Mater Hospital in Kenya in March and April 2012.
Forty- two children and families received other services that included: Echograms – 4; Evaluation – 1; Lab test – 1; Medicine – 14; Review – 10; Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 12
Our heart program is expanding as we work to educate the Kenyan community about heart disease and ways to help those in need. The Family Support Center continues to facilitate patients and families before and after surgeries.
Thank you for your continued support which is helping many on the waitlist get needed surgeries. Children & Charity International and THAP thank you.
