Counting the Blessings

Take Heart Association Project (THAP) started a great work 26 years ago. The work involved helping sick and desperate children with heart anomalies in Kenya get urgently needed care. During those 26 years, THAP has blessed over 1,000 children and families with surgeries, interventions, medicine, food and personal care packages, accommodation, and support to enjoy healthier lives today. But THAP's work is not finished. There are many more children on a Waiting List that need our help. THAP 2018 resolution is to push harder for more stakeholders to work closely with us to ensure the children on the Waiting List receive the care they need.

During the past months, four (4) children Solo, Rita, Eno, and Gie received much needed surgical intervention to correct heart anomalies of regurgitation, stenosis, and atresia of the Valves. Thirty-two (32) patients underwent critical evaluation by visiting Hearts of East Africa medical doctors from the United States. The four patients that received corrective procedures were as a result of their evaluation. Solo and Rita received vital surgeries on January 28, and Eno and Gie had corrective procedures done on February 2, 2018 at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet Kenya by cardiologists, and surgeons, from the United States and Kenya. Eighty-five (85) other children and families got much needed help during this quarter in the form of: Review – 29, Medicine – 26, Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 30.

Children & Charity International (CAC) and Take Heart Association Project (THAP) continue to forge ahead with services for children and families in Kenya. In December THAP provided educational material to several communities and conducted seven (7) home visits to patients in Loitoktok Region, Kajiado County, near the Tanzanian border. THAP checked on the families and patients’ well-being post-surgery; provided literature on follow-up healthcare; and presented a Food Care Packet.

THAP and CAC are grateful to all partners, funders, and supporters that continue to believe in our work and the impact it has on many lives. Your continued donation to this worthy cause that influences lives of deserving children and families in Kenya is truly appreciated. Partnerships and support from benefactors are pertinent to growth in our organizations. Thank you.
