At the time of writing this report, Children & Charity International (CAC) is happy to say that Mr. Peter Mbogo Kamau, Executive Director of Take Heart Association Project (THAP) is in India. He is accompanied by a group of six - three patients and three parents. One of these patients, Felista Wangari was on the 2011 Waitlist. Thanks to your generosity, Felista will have her much needed life-saving surgery soon. Two patients will receive pre-operative care, surgery, and post-operative care at New Hope Medical Center in Chennai and one will be at Fortis Malar Hospital in Bangalore, India. The group will return to Kenya in April.
CAC is also pleased to report that the past 3 months have been fulfilling for many Kenyan parents. They have been excited to see their children receive medical treatment and services for various heart ailments. We were able to assist these children in the following ways:
Two successful surgeries:
(a) Yvonne Mwikali Waluma was operated at Fortis Malar Hospital in
Chennai - India in February 2012.
(b) Master Samuel Njenga was operated at The Mater Hospital in early February 2012.
Other services received by children included: Echograms – 4, Evaluation – 3, Lab test – 1, Medicine – 9 Review – 8, Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 11
The next scheduled surgeries are planned for April and June 2012 by two visiting medical mission teams from Europe. THAP hopes at least four children from the waitlist will have surgeries. THAP will continue to monitor all patients’ progress by providing necessary medication and ensuring that families return for their check-ups with cardiologists at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.
With spring just around the corner, may the anticipation of those spring blossoms also bring great thoughts to you, our donors, about this much needed work to save the lives of children suffering from heart ailments. As you continue to support this worthy cause by your continued contributions, the children and parents say ‘thank you’ with delightful hearts.
