Help Keep Battered Mothers And Children Together

When Krista fled Switzerland with her son Cory to escape abuse from her husband, she knew he would file a Hague Petition against her to try to force her to take Cory back to Switzerland. Krista called us, safety planned with one of our case managers, Nicole, who was able to get her a legal consultation with an international family law attorney for a reduced fee.

Krista learned that she had grounds for a defense for a Hague petition. She fled home with Cory to her parents house. Due to the circumstances of her case, Krista was able to keep Cory at home in the USA!

The initial legal consultation for battered American mothers like Krista is critical to their success in being able to keep their children home in the USA when they flee abuse abroad. Contributions like yours make this possible. The entire team at AODVC wants to thank you for your support!

When Liz fled Germany with her son Dillon to escape abuse from her husband she was terrified he was going to come after her or force her to legally return Dillon to Germany. Within a few months of moving from the USA to Germany, her husband went from being moody, to threatening to hit Liz. Then one night he did hit her and threatened to hurt Dillon. Liz ran the next day, got on a plane and flew home to her parents house.

They had lived in Germany for nine months when Liz returned home. Because of donations like yours, we were able to find an international family law attorney for Liz. The attorney agreed to represent Liz and help ensure that her husband would not be successful in forcing Liz to return Dillon to Germany.

We can't thank you enough for caring about keeping battered mothers and their children together! The AODVC Teamp

Molly called us the day after her husband attacked her one night after she had put Ethan to bed. He accused her of having an affair, hit her repeatedly and raped her. He had been abusive before while she was pregnant with Ethan but he had never done anything like that. She knew she was in serious danger and needed to get home.

They had been living in Argentina for only a few months. We were able to connect Molly to an international family law attorney. He determined that given the short length of time they had been in Argentina, the one year contract her husband had with the company in Argentina and the rental of their home in the USA, that Molly would be able to easily defend a Hague Petition on International Child Abduction if her husband filed one.

We were able to get Molly and Ethan back to her parents house in the USA. This was all possible because of donations like yours! Thank you so much! The AODVC Team

When Kathy came home for Christmas with her children, she knew she wasn't going back to France. She contacted us as soon as she arrived and asked us to help her.

Kathy moved to France 1.5 years ago for her job. Her husband joined her and found a job. The more she moved up in the company, the more her husband became abusive. Kathy was happy in her career and her children were happy living in France, learning French and experiencing a different culture. But the abuse was too much. Her husband was also beginning to abuse the kids and she wanted to get home to the USA.

Kathy feared her husband would file a Hague Petition to try to force the children back to France. He did. We were able to secure an attorney for Kathy because of donations like yours. Even though her husband filed a Hague Petition, Kathy prevailed and was able to keep the kids in the USA.

Thank you so much for helping us keep battered American mothers with their children!

Because of donations like yours, we were able to assist 55 battered mothers with legal services to enable them to gain custody of their children after they fled abuse in a foreign country and returned home in 2015.

That is a record number! We could not have done it without you!

Abusers almost always have control of family finances and assets. Without legal assistance, it is almost impossible for abuse victims to secure custody of their children and keep them safe at home in the USA.

We want to sincerely thank you for your belief in our ability to provide services to battered American mothers overseas.!
