Maribel has been safety planning with an AODVC case manager for nearly a year. Maribel and her son were the victims of extreme physical and verbal abuse. AODVC paid for a consultation with an attorney who specializes in Hague issues. AODVC was able to help Maribel and Manuel seperate from Manuel's father. The attorney recommended Maribel and her son Manuel keep living in Belize for the time being and not flee to the USA because of the Hague. AODVC was able to help Maribel and Manuel seperate from Manuel's father in Belize.
Even though Maribel and her son are still not able to leave Belize they no longer have to endure the abuse from her husband, and are safe. AODVC continues to help Maribel by providing her with an attorney to help her gain custody of Manuel and eventually come home to the USA.
It is because of your donations that AODVC is able to continue to work with Maribel, keeping mother and child together.
