The School project

Good is what good does - and Success is what success doesand we are seeing this happen every day at mama Africa the Voice Uganda! Of  course there will always be ups and downs, but when we take a broad look at all of the success stories over the past years that important people like you our sponsors have been catering to the needs of extremely poor and desolate children in the slums of kalule kayindu, Uganda, they certainly overweigh the relatively few mishaps over the years. Providing not only food, medical and health care and uniform - but especially education, Mama Africa the voice Uganda has been able to raise hundreds of children out of the claws of poverty and giving them the possibility to stand up for themselves, work and build up a life out of the slums and into a better life for themselves, their families and their future families. Our project children not only attend elementary school, high school and vocational training institutes - they are also attending colleges and universities - and soon graduating with honors.

It’s no secret that gender-based violence is a major problem in Uganda. The question is, what can we do to change it?  To start, everyone can speak out against all forms of gender-based violence.  We can call out wrongdoings and encourage victims to report acts of violence to the police, local, or school authorities. On a broader level, we can safeguard girls’ futures by supporting their education.  Women’s rights are human rights, and we all must do our part to protect them. Respecting Uganda’s whole population – men and women – will lead to a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future for everyone

Today, on Human Rights Day, we mark the culmination of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. It should go without saying that as one half of humanity, women are entitled to the protection and fulfillment of their human rights. Unfortunately, in Uganda and across the world, that’s not the case. Human rights and gender equality should be respected every single day, but today, especially, is an opportunity for us all to take a firm stand against gender-based violence in our homes, communities, and countries.

Greetings from Mama Africa the Voice Uganda. We have lots of new things to show you. Brace yourself! I'll spread this over a couple of updates.

But before all that in our heartfelt message to US friends and families Christians and none Christians we say we are “deeply saddened” by the loss of life caused by Powerful Harvey storm that has claimed at least 44 lives and displaced more than a million people on the Gulf Coast we are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the recent terrible floods caused. And we send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.”

Our children are doing extremely well. In fact, they just got their second term school holidays, one of our students got first place in his 1st term and second exam results.  Although we are extremely proud at how much they have accomplished against all odds, we are working with the partner schools and teachers to help our girls through extra coaching. We are also working with our guardians to make sure our girl students get the time they need to study. Attached are some of the pictures of our students in their secondary school uniforms and during activities at home. Very sharp!

In addition, Mama Africa the voice Uganda attended GlobalGiving workshop a few months ago. They were traveling around Eastern Africa visiting the most successful projects that you support in each country. Our staff benefited allot

Construction of a community orphanage primary school and a place to call home is well on its way we need more of your financial and moral support to achieve this. It's beautiful.
