Programming in Myanmar is full steam ahead despite the on-going political crisis. Fortunately, our partner villages are located in the "safe zone" allowing staff to site visit for training and evaluation. Of course, there are times when staff need to postpone these visits, but for the most part, travel is safe for them.
We have an ambitious 8 infrastructure projects planned this fiscal year, 2 of which are for new school buildings. While not specifically teacher housing, educators are thrilled to have expanded space for their overcrowded classes. New furniture will be provided in hopes that every student will have a desk to use while at school. These are pricey projects- supplies are very expensive (inflated due to the political situation). Our village partners are required to invest financially through their community banks as well as invest considerable time through labor.
We can't wait to share photos of the finished projects later this year! Thank you for reading and please find us to find out more about our many programs in Myanmar and Zambia to help eleviate extreme poverty in rural villages forever.
