Despite ongoing turmoil in Myanmar due to the 2022 political crisis, Shanta's work continues full steam ahead thanks to our sustainable model of community-led development. Village leaders are trained to identify needs and address them. Our team of project officers continues to do site visits, and if travel is unsafe, the VDT (village development team) can manage projects independently.
While we do not have any teacher housing projects slated for 2025, two new school buildings are planned. Along with the political instability comes unstable financial markets in Myanmar, so building supply costs fluctuate wildly. But we are committed to completing each project. We estimate each one costs $12,000 USD.
School improvements should start to happen on the Siyowi campus in Zambia in 2025, as well. Stay tuned for more information on our programming there!
Your donations help us do all of this. Thank you!
