Topon, a native of Assam, joined El Shaddai in the year 2011. He was just 5 years when he was enrolled in Victory House. He comes from a poor family of farmers. Topon recalls his connection with football since he was a child. His father cultivated a passion in him for the sport. When he joined Shanti Niketan (his first school), he joined the El Shaddai Sports & Cultural Club and was trained under the guidance of Coach Valentino. After playing a few matches at the club, he soon reached the 2nd division. During these games, Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) members identified his inborn instincts and were impressed with his skills. They selected him to play for the Goa U14 team, where he carved out his stardom by hitting lead goals to victory. Whilst Topon was playing for the U14 team, a coach named Alex noticed his potential and referred him to Dempo S.C. to play for the U14 club team. He recently joined Dempo S.C. and is always in the starting line-up of the team for all the matches. Topon has currently scored more than 25 goals in his career at Dempo S.C, and turns out as 'man of the match' quite often. He has disciplined himself to wake early and travel long distances just to get a good practice session with his team. Topon has just not excelled in football but has also transcended in his academics, topping the class. He has set his dreams towards reaching the Indian football team after his graduation.
At the age of 11, Carol had to carry the weight of her family. She came to El Shaddai in 2005, with her 4 year-old sister soon after the demise of her step-father. Her mother was an alcoholic and the children were living in complete neglect.
When she came to El Shaddai, it was a whole new world for her. Chaos were replaced with order, neglect with love and care, tears with happiness and she cherished her new aboard. She was enrolled in Shanti Niketan School and continued her studies till 12th grade. After her schooling, she moved out of El Shaddai and joined the head office of El Shaddai as an HR Assistant trainee. Along with being independent, she aimed at further education and pursued Public Administration at the age of 21. Before she knew the title of HR executive was credited to her and she continued thriving at her work place.
Little did she know, from the girl who stumbled on her English letters at 11, would end up as the Director of Administration at the age of 25, in the same institution which nurtured her throughout her childhood years. She wants to help more children like her, to have a better future.
She says “my mother gave me birth, but this life today was gifted to me by El Shaddai and so I call myself, a daughter of El Shaddai”.
