Dear Patrons,

From all of us here in El Shaddai we wish you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May the New Year bring to you lots of love, laughter, and joy.

We are happy to share with you that we have opened our El Shaddai Academy again after a long gap, and after seeing a very tough and unprecedented time. Though the time was tough but the hopes were high, we can now see the happiness on the faces of children. Our Teachers are also very happy seeing the children coming back to the school.

El Shaddai Academy currently caters to 228 children with 93 girls and 135 boys. The school helps in bringing a change in their lifestyle by giving an access to the education they deserve. The teachers encourage the children to learn by following a child centred approach and involving in play way method. The training on teaching methods and handling the children were also conducted for the teachers. The same has been continued to ensure that children will continue to be motivated to learn.

As far as COVID protocol is concerned children, staff, teachers and the visitors are ensured to wear mask all the time, sanitize, check their body temperature, and maintain social distancing. We have ensured safety from spreading COVID 19. Our school is also offering online class platform for the children who are not able to avail the regular class facilities.

General medical check-up was held by Public Health department, Siolim for all the children of El Shaddai. After the check-up, the doctors asked some of the children who had health issues to come to their centre the next day for proper treatment and care. Some of the higher class students and the teachers were given Covid Vaccination. This medical check-up has proved very beneficial for all our children and the teachers especially during the critical time.

Children had their second assessment and the open day also was held for the parents and in charges to know about their child’s performance. The children are focusing on reading, writing, and general knowledge. The school is planning to focus more on academic growth towards proficiency in English, Maths and communication skills along with general knowledge. Teachers are also adapting to the strategies of creative learning by educating themselves through the available school resources thereby keeping the child engaged in studies and other activities throughout the day. Teachers are meeting the child’s individual needs by assessing them at intellectual level, personality, motivation, skills, interests, study habits, self-esteem and the teacher-student relationship.

Extra-curricular and after school activities for the children are mentioned below:

Dance, music classes and football practice are held on daily basis for both boys and girls. Apart from this Table Tennis, Chess, Control Cricket, and Basketball are also conducted.

Poem recitation competition was held for Junior and Sub Junior category

Speech competition on Goan fighters was held for seniors on the occasion of Goa Liberation day

In the month of December children had red day and Christmas celebration focusing on significance red color and Christmas theme. Children also practiced carols during the season.

Thank you for your ongoing support towards empowering and educating underprivileged children in Goa. You are truly making a difference for these children with your generous support. Please share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

Dear friends,

Since the outbreak in March 2020 COVID-19 has caused disorder across the world and education has been hit hard. Education is an essential right for children and is a priority. We are glad to report that we were able to conduct regular physical classes in batches for our children since June 2021. The school reopened on 21st June 2021. The school marked the first day with all the new normal operations like sanitization and social distancing and are being practiced every day. All our children who are residing in our residential homes were very excited, to begin with, their school activities again.

Regular classes were held for the children along with all the extracurricular activities like music, dance, singing, football, indoor and outdoor games. Till date, the same mode of teaching, physical classes, and same is being continued. In order to impact the child’s academic achievements, the teachers took the initiative of bridging the gap the children had during the pandemic, by revising the basic concepts and relearning the same for few weeks. This was possible because of the generous help and support that was given by donors and supporters like you. Currently, there are 189 children with 115 boys and 74 girls.

The children answered their first assessment on August 25th and the majority of them have done fairly well in their assessments.  The school will ensure the children have the best chance for a happier childhood

Your continued support will help us to reach out to more children across the country and the state of Goa. We will continue to keep you updated about the school in the following months.

If you would like to regularly engage in this Endeavour and project, we encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation for a small amount, which will go a long way in giving them a bright future.

Dear wonderful Supporters,

I hope this report finds you helpful!!!

The COVID 19 pandemic has battered the education systems around the world. When the pandemic hit, hundreds of children were at home as the schools were closed down. Our country first only was struggling to give access to basic education but the onset made it worse.

The children present in our homes, shelters, and centres were provided with regular classes in different batches keeping in mind the COVID 19 protocols. The children were taught through telephone calls, messages and videos so that they could continue with their normal education.

With your help, we were able to reach out to more than a thousand children providing basic education with the view of uplifting their families and convincing the parents about the importance of education.

In this second wave, to continue with the education your help is needed. We offer basic education to underprivileged children to help vulnerable families. The children at present are on a summer break and El Shaddai wants to restart the school in a better mode through the virtual learning and mobile enabling the children to experience “Back to school”

We are trying to ensure that in this lockdown the parents and children survive in this crisis by helping them with the meals and provision along with much-needed education providing a better future. Your contribution can help bring a child’s dream to life by giving the child a chance to enjoy the education.

We are really grateful to you all for being a part of the El Shaddai family. Thank you to all sponsors, donors, and supporters who have been supporting this cause. We were able to reach our target because of your continuous support.

If you would like to regularly engage in this endeavour and project, we encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation for a small amount, which will go a long way in giving them a bright future.

Best regards,

El Shaddai

Hello to all our wonderful donors,

We are happy to bring you the exciting news that El Shaddai Academy has welcomed its students back to school after a long gap on 1st December 2020 allowing children to return to classrooms after months of online learning.

Both teachers and students were excited to meet one another after a long time. As of now we have around 100 children with 7 Teachers.

School authorities strictly adhered to covid-19 safety guidelines and teachers ensure children regularly wear mask and maintain social distancing. Day one of the reopening was all about reinforcing awareness of COVID-19 guideline, and making the students comfortable with the class and the new normal.

On 6th January, a vaccination camp was conducted by Primary Health Care (PHC) Siolim; where 56 children and 13 staffs were immunized with tetanus vaccine and children below 5 years with Diphtheria Pertussis Tetanus (DPT) & vitamin vaccine.

Thank you for your commitment and support. Your donations make it possible for us to continue to expand our school programs and provide opportunities for children across Goa. Our recurring donors are making a continuous impact and we are truly grateful for the ongoing support. If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-an-underprivileged-child-go-to-school/?show=recurringEven a few dollars will go a long way.

Dear Patrons,

Hope you and your family are safe and secure,

Thank you for your generous support as it continues to make an impact in the lives of the slum children. Your generosity is helping them get a quality education.

Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19, the pandemic was a long battle that they had to deal with. However, keeping the children motivated and in high spirits was equally important. On the 12th of August, we started slum school in naikavaddo with 16 students, followed by Dongerpur slum with 22 children and Agarvaddo slum with 27 children. Initially, we educated them about safety measures like wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands from time to time and still continue to teach about safety measures. Our trained teachers have taken the initiative to provide education at their doorstep, teaching them Alphabet, numbers, Moral story, and Rhymes, conducting activities and games. Recently we also started slum school in Mapusa Street with 30 children. Parents and children are happy to have this slum school class since they don’t have to worry about their children’s education during covid-19.

Now we need your help to get through these difficult times, and some of our sponsors are also experiencing hard times. It would be great if you could encourage your friends also to be a part of this valuable association.

If you like to regularly engage in this Endeavour and project, we encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation for a small amount, which will go a long way in giving them a bright future. The link to start a recurring donation is:
