Update on services for children with disabilities

By Erlisa Bashllari | Project Manager

Over the past two months, World Vision Albania, in collaboration with Municipality of Librazhd has continued to provide vital services for children and young people with disabilities, despite harsh winter weather and public health challenges. The center remained a safe and inclusive space for children, families, and the wider community, ensuring continuity of care and psychosocial support.

Therapies Provided

During this period, a total of 188 therapy sessions were delivered, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, and developmental therapy. 128 sessions took place at the center, while 60 sessions were provided through the mobile service, reaching children at their homes in hardertoaccess areas. In total, 97 children benefited from therapeutic support, even as heavy rain, snow, and illness made access difficult for some families.

Psycho-social activities

Alongside therapy, around 25 children and young people regularly participated in psychosocial activities focused on emotional well-being, social skills, and communication. The center’s youth group played a key role in promoting inclusion, with 15 young people engaging 25 children with disabilities in creative, artistic, and recreational activities that encouraged confidence and peer connection.

The center also strengthened community awareness and protection. Activities engaged institutions, teachers, 80 pupils, and youth, promoting inclusion and understanding of different abilities. In addition, KIA Green Light Center hosted an intersectoral casemanagement meeting, where professionals from social services, healthcare, and police coordinated responses for two vulnerable children, reinforcing the center’s role as a trusted referral point.

Through these combined efforts and with your support we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families.
