Restoring Health, Renewing Hope

By Katha | Project Leader

At 63, R’s life was inseparable from the land he tended. As the caretaker of a farmhouse in Gairatpur Bas, his days revolved around early mornings, open skies, and long walks across the fields.

However, over the past few months, his health began to deteriorate. He initially dismissed the pain as a normal part of ageing. But when he found himself struggling to climb even a small ladder, he realised that something was wrong.

It began with persistent headache and pains in his shoulders and other parts of his body. Tasks that once came naturally now left him exhausted by noon. Soon, he began experiencing headaches and dizzy spells. One night, he felt very uncomfortable. The following morning, his son took him to a nearby clinic, where he underwent a health check-up and was prescribed medication.

Although R took his medicines regularly, the relief was temporary, and his symptoms continued to trouble him. Around this time, a fellow farmer told him about ANANDA Medical Centre. Initially hesitant, R eventually agreed to visit the centre after his son encouraged him to seek further medical attention.

From his very first visit, the experience was different. The doctor at ANANDA took the time to understand R’s daily routine, sleep patterns, diet, and health concerns rather than simply prescribing medicines. Following a detailed examination, the medical team explained the importance of managing his persistently high blood pressure and developed a care plan tailored to his needs. This included medication to control his blood pressure, physiotherapy for his joint and muscle pain, and simple dietary changes that he could easily follow while living and working at the farmhouse.

The first improvement R noticed was in his sleep. As his blood pressure came under control, his morning headaches began to subside. Within a month, his body aches had reduced significantly, allowing him to complete his usual rounds of the farm again. Over the following months, his blood pressure readings stabilised, and he gradually regained the strength and stamina to work in the field without frequent breaks. Throughout his recovery, the ANANDA team continued to monitor his health and adjust his medication as needed.

Today, R begins his day at 5 a.m., just as he always did. With a smile, he says, “I look after the farmhouse, and now ANANDA looks after me.” He continues to visit the centre for regular check-ups and takes his medication as prescribed.

For a man who measures life in seasons and harvests, regaining his health meant reclaiming his independence and returning to the work he loves. Today, R is back to caring for the land that has always been such an important part of his life, with ANANDA Medical Centre helping him take better care of himself.
