Change at Arias Home- for better living.

By Namrata Ranjan | Program Development Officer

Wellbeing and Wellness of the children at Arias Home is our top priority and we make all possible efforts to ensure children are happy and contented; however there is always a challenge to maintain a proper balance between the 5 core needs of the children. For example a younger child’s physical needs may take priority over mental, spiritual, emotional or material need whereas for elder children it is different. Also the needs of growing boys are quite different from that of growing girls hence the organisation took a decision to run a single sex or one gender home instead of mix gender and in the month of June 2015 Arias Home was converted into ALL GIRLS HOME to serve them better.

All the boys were transferred to other home in Chennai, which provides care and shelter for boys infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. That NGO is also experienced in rehabilitating the boys after the age of 18 when they can no more stay in the orphanage by providing them training on different vocational trades  that  fetch them jobs and they are able to stand on their feet and which we are not in a position to do right now.

Currently we have 11 girls in the home and taking care of only girls has lightened the work load of the staff and now they are able to justice with every child and in bargain are able to meet the ultimate goal of  Wellbeing and Wellness for the girls at Arias Home.

We request all your support and help and encouragement in serving the girls better and develop them to a level where they are self-dependent and happy with life.
