Bringing hope Changing lives….
In this quarter, we bring you news from the Community Care Centre of HOPE, Tirunelveli. The home which started in 2006 has helped over 200+ children till date. Currently, it accommodates and gives care for only boys and 14 boys are part of this family right now. All the boys are infected with HIV/AIDS & 7 of them have lost both their parents and the other 7 has lost one of their parents. Though physically infected and emotionally tormented by the status of their life, these boys get to have HOPE and they are learning to live with dignity in this home. All of them are continuing their formal education in a Government School. Our heartfelt gratitude to each one of the donors who has donated for the cause of caring for them. Your donation has truly helped us to bring hope and change lives of these boys in the Community Care Centre of HOPE, Tirunelveli.

Satya all smiling
A few days back Satyamoorthy’s was not how he looks today a happy child with a bright smile and zeal to live.
Satyamoorthy and his brother got orphaned at the age of 6 when they hardly knew how to live life. Their Aunty took the responsibility of them but within no time due to financial constraints felt the boys a burden and sold one boy to another family and left Satyamoorthy with GYPSY group that lived on the road side.
This gypsy group used him for doing house hold chores and sometimes even send him for begging. On day his aunty saw him begging and was very unhappy and took him back with her. Then she admitted him in school. She would also ask him to do household chores. He was very unhappy and fled from the house. He took shelter in the bus stops or sometimes even slept on the road side.
Childline NGO working for street children identified him and through CWC admitted him in Divya Home at Trichy.
Here he found many friends to play with, good food, good care and lots of love. He is very happy to stay here. He is enrolled in the school and now studying in class 4. He loves to go to school and his dream is to become a Police Officer. He is very a very active boy of the home and loves drawing and painting.

Children watering the vegetable garden
Organic fruits and vegetables have acquired a lot of attention and importance in the past few years. We too realize the importance of organic food; hence we came up with a plan of setting up a vegetable garden. After a period of one year we have beautiful vegetable garden with variety of vegetables and fruits growing in the same.
Positive signs were visible on the health of the children because of the intake of vegetables and fruits from their very own garden,. They have gained weight and the sickness rate has dropped down. The CD4 count has increased and stable for the past few months.
Because of the vegetable garden children are getting to eat fresh vegetables and fruits, they are also getting an opportunity to work in the garden which makes them stay close to the nature. They have become more caring and want to water and maintain the garden. They like to spend time plucking the ready to harvest vegetables and fruits and this brings immense joy on their faces. They have also developed a liking for those vegetables that they would not eat earlier.
As mentioned in the title, "Diet cures more than Doctor"stands very true in the case of our children who are infected with HIV/AIDS. Proper balanced diet of organic vegetables, fruits and non-vegetarian food has helped immensely to the children and they are more happy and healthy.
