The “Healing Hearts” project is addressing the long-overlooked mental health needs of women affected by the armed conflict in Bardiya. In the past six months, the Women Welfare Foundation has organized two trauma-informed group counseling sessions in Thakurbaba and Bansgadhi municipalities, reaching over 60 women. These safe spaces allowed participants to openly share their experiences and begin their journey toward healing. In addition, local female facilitators were trained to identify early signs of mental distress and offer peer-level support. The project is slowly but meaningfully helping women rebuild emotional strength, resilience, and confidence in their daily lives.
To date, the project has directly benefited over 120 women, many of whom are widows, survivors of conflict-related violence, or single mothers facing economic hardship.
