The “Healing Hearts” project is addressing the long-overlooked mental health needs of women affected by the armed conflict in Bardiya. In the past three months of 2025 (June-August), the Women Welfare Foundation was able to organize one trauma-informed group counseling session, reaching 15 women directly. These safe spaces allowed participants to openly share their experiences and begin their journey toward healing. The existing taboo on mental health and the importance of sharing about your issues were also strongly discussed. The project is slowly but meaningfully helping women rebuild emotional strength, resilience, and confidence in their daily lives.
To date, the project has directly benefited over 135 women, many of whom are widows, survivors of conflict-related violence, or single mothers facing economic hardship.
