This project will educate and empower young people in Bali through comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), using peer-to-peer methods that make learning not only accessible but also resonant and impactful. CSE equips young people to lead safe, informed, and fulfilling lives, even in the face of persistent risks such as HIV, STIs, unintended pregnancies, gender-based violence, and inequality.
In Bali, public health concern is mirrored by a high rate of teenage pregnancy, closely tied to rising child marriages. According to the 2019 Youth Development Index, 23.40% of girls aged 15-18 in the province had married and become pregnant. The HIV-AIDS case situation in Denpasar City also records a cumulative total of 397 cases among individuals aged 15-19 years. Despite its proven benefits, CSE deliverable is still limited, leaving many young people unprepared for informed choices.
Evidence shows that comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) helps young people develop the knowledge, values, and skills needed for safe, healthy relationships and respect for human rights and diversity. Through this project, PKBI Bali will continue educating youth by delivering CSE and empowering them with the confidence and tools to protect themselves and others. The project also aims to foster open dialogue about sexuality and raise awareness within the community about the SRHR.
1. Empower young people with knowledge and skills to make informed and healthy decision about themselves. 2. Reduced rates of child marriage and sexual violence through sustained education and awareness. 3. Improve access of young people to services and information related to SRHR. 4. Create gender-equitable environment through inclusive and gender-sensitive policies.
