The Global Climate Resilience Fellowship Program (GCRFP) is gearing up for its 2025 Summer Fellowship. This year, we are seeking a 150% growth of our Fellowship program by expanding the number of funded Fellow opportunities. Through this expansion, we will be able to support 5-10 United States (U.S.) undergraduate students interested in global equity and climate resilience.
Hosted annually by the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM), the GCRFP is a fully-funded summer abroad program that immerses students from across the U.S. into West African culture while exploring the impacts of climate, climate action, and climate resilience. Fellows will travel to our Global Resilience and Outreach Center in Accra, Ghana, and engage with community stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, community service organizations, universities, and government to identify climate challenges and develop a capstone centered on community-crafted resilience solutions to climate change. These solutions will be leveraged to drive innovative climate strategies that empower local organizations and communities towards climate resilience.
Since last report, our 2025 planning and Fellowship strategy is underway including recruitment, programming, and coordination across 16 regions of Ghana. Additionally, the curriculum and capstone guidelines are being refined to support more impactful solutions and implementation beyond the Summer Fellowship.
Funding for the program supports travel, program activities, transportation, and all materials, equipment and supplies in Ghana related to the Fellowship Program. Lodging will be provided in-kind by I-DIEM.
