The Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management is seeking funding for the Global Climate Resilience Fellowship Program. The Fellowship is a transformative program designed to immerse undergraduate students in a comprehensive, engaging experience centered around policy, advocacy, community engagement, and research for community-crafted resilience solutions (CCRS) that enhances education, awareness, training, and evidence-based strategies for climate action and resilience.
Without climate action, 1 million Ghanaians will fall into poverty by 2050. Further, impacts of climate on agriculture can reduce income by up to 40% for underserved populations. To overcome these challenges, I-DIEM established a Global Resilience Center dedicated to serving to Ghana and the greater African continent. Based in Accra, the Center is implementing a Fellowship that focuses on research, practice, advocacy, and policy through shared partnerships centered on community resilience.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to support an undergraduate Fellowship program that focuses on the research, engagement, design, development, launch, and sustainability planning of community-crafted resilience solutions (CCRS) that are collaborative and empowering. These capstone program solutions will provide education, training, awareness, and resources that support climate education and resilience while also influencing climate policy that support long-term resilience building.
The long-term benefits of this program are global impact and global network for the Fellows while communities and underserved populations, globally, will have the support, funding, education, resources, and knowledge for community-centered solutions that are identified and led by communities for climate action. Through national campaigns, program branding, and policy advocacy, Fellows will work directly with policymakers to create new or adaptive policies that indoctrinate new climate strategy.
