Bhavani, proud with her completion ribbon.
Bhavani, proud with her completion ribbon.

When families live in poverty, every member is affected. It can be hard for children to pay attention in school, if they can even afford it, and parents are constantly worried about basic needs.

Such was the case with Bhavani, a women who, even though she had studied up to 12th grade, could not find a job in her village. To make matters worse, her husband was an alcoholic who used much of his income on alcohol. Bhavani says she spent many days in tears, hoping for a way to provide for her family.

But everything changed once Bhavani had the chance to complete the tailoring school courses! She learned many types of stiches and even graduated with her very own sewing machine. Now, she makes up to 300 rupees a day, which is enough to feed her children, send them to school, and other basic needs! She is so thankful.

Bhavani's story is not unique -- there are many more women who cannot afford essentials because they don't have any source of income. When you donate to tailoring schools, you are giving these women the chance they need. Thank you!

Dear Friend,

I am so thankful for your generosity! Sewing machines empower women to create their own income, opening up a multitude of opportunities for them and their families.

As I'm sure you're aware, Covid-19 has effectively shut down the country of India. A nation-wide shut down has prevented people from working, traveling, and even getting groceries. But because of you, families in poverty still have hope.

Anjali's family was in a lot of debt, so they could not afford to send her to school. Without education, it was very hard for Anjali to get a job that would help her family get out of debt. But then, she joined the tailoring school and was equipped with amazing sewing skills and a machine of her own!

But then, another setback hit: the virus. But, because of your generosity, Anjali was ready. She was able to produce masks for those living in her community! Here's what she has to say about her experience:

"As soon as the lockdown was implemented due to corona outbreak, I had no work to stitch as there are no schools, no marriages, no functions, no festivals. There was nothing to do except stay at home.

But I am thankful that India Partners approached me and encouraged me to help them in stitching masks and they are paying for masks and I also feel blessed that I get to be part of this amazing work going on in the communities here. In this critical condition you have given us hope and relief."

Thank you for changing the life of Anjali! Even in some of the scariest moments, you have provided hope.

To continue empowering women and their communities, please consider providing another sewing machine today.

Dear Friend,

I am always amazed at your generosity! You are empowering women in some of the toughest situations.

Lavanya has two children, and when her husband died in a truck accident, she had no way to care for them. Lavanya hadn't completed much school, and so she did not have skills to get a job to pay for rent, her electricity bill, or even food every day.

But then, because of your donations, she was admitted to tailoring school! Now her sewing can bring a reliable income for her and her children. She even says: "This training gave me hope to live."

I hope Lavanya's story shows how much of a difference you are making in these women's lives!

Thank you again,

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your amazing and generous support! You are helping a mother like Vajja find hope during a dark and depressing time.

Vajja is a young, widowed mother. After her husband passed away, she moved back home and was left as the sole provider for her child. She felt hopeless...

"I didn't know where my life was going," said Vajja. "I was suffering without any financial support because I didn't have a job and I couldn't find work. Sometimes I thought it would be better to die with my child rather than live with these struggles."

But you stepped in and your gift provided hope to Vajja. Today, she attends an India Partners Tailoring School which empowers women living in poverty in rural villages and provides them with valuable business and sewing skills. She will also get a
sewing machine so they can start their own tailoring business from home.

When Vajja got accepted into our tailoring school, she was so happy. She never thought she could get in because she couldn't afford the fees, but your gift paid for tuition and gave her a chance to succeed.

"I will definitely use this wonderful opportunity for the future of my son and my personal needs. Thank you for your support!" said Vajja.

You are making an incredible difference in the lives of mothers in India who often feel trapped in poverty. Your gift is providing them with the training they need to be self-sustainable.

Thank you for helping Marri!
Thank you for helping Marri!

Marri is the mother of two boys and one girl. Her husband is a heavy drinker and often spends half of his wages on alcohol. Marri was unable to work as she needed to stay home to take care of her children. The family racked up debts for food and basic needs.

Then everything changed. Marri had the wonderful opportunity to learn to tailor for free and learned many varieties of stitching techniques that allow her to sew both women's wear and children's clothes.

Initially, Marri was making a small amount but now her daily income has more than doubled! She is earning enough money to begin the repayment of debts that her family took on previously. Best of all, Marri is looking forward to helping other women who are in similar situations.

Marri is incredibly grateful for the ability she now has to provide for her family and give her children a better life. "Without this tailoring school, I wouldn't have any opportunity to reach this position I have now!" she says, "and I will never forget this help in my lifetime."

Thank you for empowering women through sewing!
