Gift a Happy Childhood to Orphan Children

Thank you so much for your support over the last several years. Sphoorti children are doing fine. Your support has been making a lot of difference in the lives of our children.

Our current strength in various places (Dundigal, Cherlapally and elsewhere) is 225. We are planning to add another block which can accommodate 100 children. We performed Bhoomi Pooja on Feb 26th for the new block.

Our children Pravallika (STD VII) and Gautam (STD VIII) were part of the teams which won 1st and 3rd prizes at Anveshana 2018 - a Science and Engineering Fair.

In the recent months, we added more Gond children from Adilabad and Kumram Bhim districts. There are 24 Gond children in all.

As part of our Bikes campaign, we distributed 100 bikes to 100 children.

Our children Chandrakanth and Keerthi win 1st and 2nd Prizes in National Children's Science Congress Essay-writing competitions. The event was conducted at National Remote Science Center, Jeedimetla. They also won ULLAS Trust Scholarship, sponsored by Polaris.

Four Sphoorti girls Swapna, Manisha, Lalitha and Rohini and one boy Anand have been selected for National Merit cum Means Scholarship 2018.

Children's Day was celebrated in the august presence of Medchal District Judges and Advocates.

In January, we collected 60,000 sanitary napkins to be distributed among 500 girl children. We distributed 30,000 napkins so far.

22 Sphoorti children participated in Concern India Foundation Inter NGO Sports Meet held on Jan 24. They won 36 prizes. The Sphoorti team won the Tournament Cup for its overall performance.

On Dec 8, we were invited by Hexagon for their Family Day. It was a great honor for Sphoorti.

On Dec 31st night, we distributed Blankets to more than 200 Homeless people. We distributed more than 200 sweaters to our children and some local villagers in December and January.

New Dining Hall

Thank you very much for your support for our initiatives over the last several months. Through this report, we seek to provide an update about our activities.

Sphoorti children are doing fine. We now have 150 + children in the Dundigal campus, 50 children (Inter and beyond) in our Cherlapally campus and more than 10 children (Intermediate) in other Residential Junior Colleges in Hyderabad.

This year, more than 10 Sphoorti children took admission in Engineering. One of our children secured admission in Computer Science in Sreenidhi Engineering College. Sreenidhi is one of the best Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad.

We also have about 10 children who took admission in BSc and BCom in Bhavan's Vivekananda Degree College which is one of the premier Degree Colleges in Hyderabad. We spend more than Rs 40,000 per child towards College Fee.

In Dundigal, we have almost wrapped up construction of the rooms. We are extending one room and also some rooms for staff.

We have started working with children from Gond tribe. These children come from abject poverty conditions hailing from interiors of Adilabad tribal areas. These children do not speak Telugu.We are putting in extra efforts to mainstream them. We are adding 20 more children from their community this year.

On July 16, we completed 11 years of Sphoorti. On that occasion, we inaugurated our kitchen and dining area with a lot of enthusiasm from our children.

On September 10, JJ Metta Memorial Library at Sphoorti was inaugurated by JJ Metta Chairman Ms Usha. The library has more than 1000 books available.

On Oct 11, the Global Vice President Mr. Vivek Mokashi inaugurated the Computer Lab sponsored by Hexagon (Previously known as Intergraph).

To provide more privacy to children, we also distributed 200 stainless steel trunk boxes to all our children.

During July and August, we celebrated festivals like Bonalu, Raksha Bandhan, Vinayaka Chaviti and Deepavali.
