GBV Victims Transport Required

The year 2025 has been one of our most challenging yet at the Healing Hands Foundation. Our commitment to serving vulnerable communities in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro remains strong, but we are currently facing a serious operational challange that is putting our mission at risk: we have only one vehicle available to support all our critical outreach and support service.

Our single vehicle is currently being used for:

• Collecting and distributing food to various disadvantaged communities in the Metro.

• Transporting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors to hospitals, police stations, courts, counselling services, and safe houses.

This dual-purpose use places enormous strain on the vehicle, and more importantly, forces our team into heartbreaking situations where we must choose between delivering food to hungry families and transporting a victim of abuse to safety.

The Impact of Limited Transport

• Delays in food parcel deliveries, leaving some families without food for days.

• Interrupted support for GBV survivors, who depend on us for emergency transport and emotional support.

• Increased wear and breakdowns, resulting in high repair costs and unexpected downtime.

We are reaching a point where this lack of transport could compromise both the quality and consistency of the services we provide.

Why We Urgently Need a Second Vehicle

A second, reliable vehicle would immediately allow us to:

• Separate food distribution from victim support, allowing both programs to run smoothly and simultaneously.

• Expand our outreach, reaching more communities consistently and efficiently.

• Reduce operational pressure, minimizing breakdowns and vehicle downtime.

This is not just about convenience ,it is about protecting lives, feeding families, and preserving the dignity and well-being of the people we serve.

Healing Hands Community Project has 1 VW Polo which is used for collection and distribution of of donations such as food, bedding and linen, clothes and various other donations. This Polo is also used for transporting the victims of GBV whom are housed by the Healing Hands Shelter for women and children in crisis. A vehicle is urgently need for this purpose in order to transport the victims to the clinics, hospitals, court and other referal agencies during their stay at the shelter. The time duration for staying at the shelter depends on the case and finding alternate safe placements with relatives or freinds. We also take the mothers and children out to the parks, beach, or lunch and dinner outings. Your donation to this program can go along way a make a huge impact on the lives of those affected by GBV. Let us join hands in the fight against GBV and in support of all those who have been affected. Let us bring some sort of relief to the mothers and children who have been affected. We are hoping and praying for a positive response from donors.
