We at Healing Hands Community Project are in dire need of a secondary vehicle for our organisation. We currently have a VW Polo 2010 model and it is too small to accomodate the many shelterees that need transportation from our establishment for medical, legal appointments etc. As well allowing us to fetch them from their premises as well as transporting them and their luggage etc to their permanent place of safety.
GBV is a huge problem within the Port Elizabeth Metro. It makes up at least 40% of cases reported on a daily basis at the local law offices and the need for a place of safety for these victims is huge with a limited number of shelters available in the Metro.
Due to the high number of victims we receive almost daily, transport is very important for us to be able to fetch the victims, transport for them for legal, medical appointments, counselling etc. As well as transporting them to a permanent place of safety
Having a secondary vehicle that allows us to transport more people will assist our organisation in helping more victims instead of us limiting the number we can assist at a time.
