The Incredible Journey from Student to Ambassador in India

By Melissa Rancourt | Chairman & Founder, greenlight for girls

Our team in India supporting our g4g girls!
Our team in India supporting our g4g girls!

We often write about the transition we have seen in our scholarship students in India.  From young shy girls who spoke few words of English, we have seen them blossom in their courageous journey throughout their studies.  These young students are now prominent ambassadors for learning in their communities - and it doesn't stop there!

We began our scholarship project a few years ago - and thanks to all your tremendous support, these girls in the Bangalore region have been able to realise their drem - to go to university!  They are studying chemistry, biology, engineering & business -- and they all are doing incredibly, some already advancing to their next degree on their own.

This now paves the way for our next scholarship recipients - this time exending beyond Bangalore to Rajastan and Calcutta - and our first scholarship girls are helping to make this happen.

As Ambassadors, they are ready to take on running events, workshops, science learning activities in their community & they are already making a difference in the environment around them.  They are now working with our Board of Director in India to help lead the initiative to start our scholarships in Rajasthan & Calcutta.

In the last few months, your recent support has given them the tuition, books & expenses to continue their university studies of these very special young women.  And now, we are ready for our next scholarship girls!!
