For our last report, we were excited to report about role models -- the news that our scholarship recipients, girls from less advantaged communities in Bangalore, were now becoming role models for others to follow. Well, these special girls continue to amaze us - because now, they have led their own workshops in a special Festival of Science!!
Your support has made it possible for a set of very special girls to have the chance to study in university - and without your support, this would not have been possible. In addition to their successful studies in Engineering, Biology and Physicis, they now wish to be Ambassadors for local communities. Sindhu, Srilaksmi, Supriya and Sindhu had the chance to share their learning and passion with hundreds of children from all over the Bangalore region. We are so incredibly proud of all of you!!! We can't help but think back to just a few years ago when you were all so shy and just learning english - and now you are teaching others!!
Plus - this special opportunity was the collaboration between both our education partners in India -- the scholarship girls from Nele participated in this Festival of Science by Parikrma - the students had the chance to meet one another!!
And... several kilometers away but also in India, greenlight for girls has now launched activities in GOA!!! Over an amazing weekend, we held events in both North and South Goa reaching more than 250 children from a variety of schools, education systems and orphanages. With the help of some incredible role models in the region & special guests who travelled from California and Brussels to support this endeavour, these girls had a special day just for them in which they could build their skills and interests in science, technology, engineering and math. This first event was just a beginning and we aim to continue these events as well as see how our scholarship program can help more girls in this region.
PLUS -- we are also exploring the regions of Rajasthan and Calcutta for our next scholarship girls!!!
