We started out with a dream... could we figure out how to create university scholarships to those who needed it most? And so it began -- first in Bangalore with 8 special students.
These 8 girls have surpassed our expectations. They are now role models in their communities -- not only excelling in their studies but also now reaching out out to local schools to inspire learning science, math, engineering and technology - to those who need it most.
In the past weeks, our scholarship students have created opportunities to reach out to their local schools to encourage science learning - and we wish to continue to encourage them - so we have some big events in the midst for the months ahead. One of girls, Sindhu, has begun teaching school children in her community about physics and science - her passions. Another of our scholarship girls, Srilaksmi, has just finished her first internship at an amazing company in Bangalore learning practical skills to become an engineer, her dream.
With our scholarship girls, we now gear up to our next big events in India!
In January, greenlight for girls will be holding our first g4g day in Goa - bringing together 200 school kids from local schools for a day just for them, full of workshops and learning about science. On the same trip, we will be visiting our community centre in Rajisthan where we are providing 31 girls education stipends to encourage them them to continue their school studies up to high school and we hope, beyond. Finally, we end in Bangalore, the home of our 8 original scholarship girls, where we are planning our first g4g@work project to invite local school girls to one of our corporate partnerships to introduce them to a future workplace!
Thank you everyone for your continue support of our scholarship initiatives -- you are making it possible for these girls to become future engineers and scientists - and to change the community around them.
