A pinning and candle lighting ceremony is a symbolic event that typically marks a significant achievement or milestone, especially in educational or professional settings. It's most commonly seen in nursing and other healthcare professions, but it can also occur in other fields. During a pinning ceremony, individuals are presented with a pin, which represents their completion of a specific program or the achievement of a particular level of proficiency or certification.
This year's Nursing Class of 2025 held its pinning ceremony to signify the next step into the Nursing program which is the internship stage. They received a pin through a solemn ceremony which symbolized their transition from students to interns. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, faculty, and peers and is considered a rite of passage in the nursing profession.

THE BATTLE OF THE NIGHTINGALES

Florence Nightingale also named as the "Lady of the Lamp" is the founder of Modern Nursing. She has transfromed Nursing into a respectable profession. Ms.Nightingale demonstrated compassion, dedication to patient care and careful hospital management.Since then, Florence Nightingale is a name in the Nursing Education and Profession with the lamp as its symbol.
Every year, the Nursing students all over the Visayas joined an inter-quiz bowl competition known Battle of the Nightingales. This year's competition was held in Bacolod City last August 27, 2024. This competition seeks to highlight the skills and knowledge to become a professional nurse. Only five nursing students made it to the finals and they proudly represented the working scholars of Foundation University.
The opening of a new academic year brings in more students to Foundation University College of Nursing. The university's quest to give quality education to the financially challenged is its utmost priority.

It has been another academic year for a Foundationite. The commencement exercise for academic year 2023 - 2024 was held on May 25, 2024 where we graduated 34 nursing student scholars. The ceremony was held inside Foundation University campus where they were honored through a pinning ceremony during the baccalaureate and the diploma during the exercise.
The commencement speaker, Mr. Hankki Lee, inspired the graduates through a message about LOVE. He is a young successful entrepreneur who was a scholar himself during his student days. He inspired the graduates of his lifestory to success.
The next step is now to concentrate on becoming a registered nurse by taking the board exam moving forward while Foundation University will continue to offer a nursing scholarship program to the intellectually gifted but financially challenged and become a world renowned FoundatioNurse.
