Summary

In the completion of 6 months on Chennai and Cuddalore flood hits, ROSI has implemented the relief works successfully in both areas and rehabilitation works as House repairing, tuition centres and educational materials, Alternative livelihood training and Income generation are continued.

Challenge

In the relief work ended on Chennai and Cuddalore flood 2015, For their victims, rehabilitation work is running. It is important for recovering from damaged houses (coconut and palm leaves thatched roof), which are allowing sun light, rain and insect as it not repaired yet. Their losing business is making poverty and livelihood loses. The destruction on the belief of children education and Health issue continuation on adolescent and women are existing.

Solution

The rehabilitation program is providing Tuition and educational materials for children, Livelihoods training and self business for Girls and women, RCH training for Adolescent girls and house repairing for cocunut and palm leaves thatched houses. The work are being continued for another 10 months in the Flood hits areas if it is important and people are very poor, dalit and tribe. The program will improve their life in education, health, Income and Habitation and give recovery to normal life

Long-Term Impact

It is bringing the flood survivors toward rehabilitation and return toward normal life protecting from homeless, health and economical crisis. Livelihood training and business will give income and survival. Adolescent will learn and attain sustainable health activity. Special coaching and educational material will continue Children education and development. House repairing works will give safe accommodation from rain, sunlight and insects.
