We operate in an area about 100 miles west of Chennai in Southern India. Generally and for the last 20 years the problem has been lack of rain with the exception of one recent year when there were extreme floods. This was in November 2016. There had been such a lack of rainfall that some of the poor people had built mud houses in river beds. These were quickly over run when the waters came from the hills. Many were drowned, many houses were washed away, crops were ruined and lives were devastated. We diverted some funds to help with blankets and rice and to basically try to improve the lives of some of our families in our area of operation.
