Field Operational and Interception Report May 2026
This report illustrate the reality of critical findings from our recent field operations, which highlight Nyarugenge District as the strategic epicenter of human trafficking challenges in Rwanda. Our data underscores the urgent need for the specialized interventions EJO TWIFUZA provides:
Strategic Hub Impact: Out of 306 victims intercepted in Kigali City, 57% (174 victims) were intercepted specifically within Nyarugenge District. This confirms that the Nyabugogo and Muhima transit hubs are the primary high-risk zones for national trafficking networks.
Vulnerability of Residents: Nyarugenge is the most affected district nationwide by home residence, with 28 potential victims originating from within our district borders.
Demographic Risks: Our findings show that 90% of victims are female and 85% are youth/children, with a significant 74% being students recruited via social media and false job promises.
Barriers to Justice: We arrested 4 criminals in collaboration with RIB and Police, 28 causes are in Investigations process but we have observed that many victims refuse to report to RIB due to social stigma, fear of reprimand for associated crimes (like illegal migration), or lack of support after release from police transit centers. Ejo Twifuza acts as the "trusted bridge" to help them get justice.
Holistic Resilience: Ejo Twifuza bridges the gap between criminal proceedings and survivor care by addressing sidelined needs such as Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), post-rape clinical management, and psychosocial reintegration.
EJO TWIFUZA is committed to protecting the residents of Nyarugenge , Rwanda , Africa , the world and securing our transit hubs.
Thanks for everyone who supported our work.
