1. Community Awareness program for Pregnant Women: On the 6th of this April, a half-day awareness program was conducted for Pregnant women. The resource person of the day was Dr. Parshuram from the local PHC. He also spoke about the prevention of disabilities and early cure. The importance of having good and healthy food, Timely interventions were the main topics discussed. There were 17 participants in the program.
2. Community Awareness Program: On the 21st community, awareness was conducted at Bhaktharahalli village. The focus was to bring preventing bad practices in the villages, Prevention of disabilities, health, and Hygiene. The resource person was Ms. Ashwini from the department of health.
3. Initiation of IGP & Renovation of Houses & Schools: In order to strengthen the families in the Income Generating program, the PO has identified 5 families. This month we have renovated the shop of Mr. Gopal, whose child is Mentally Challenged. Due to COVID Pandemic, the shop was closed and the family was suffering economically.
4. Training for Self-Employment: Independence that can lead to a better quality of life. The PO is training 25 rural women, especially mothers of special children in Tailoring. This is a 3 months course, the basics will be taught. The aim of this training the rural women to become more self-reliant, and economically stable.
5. World Environment Day: On the 5th of June 2022, The Project Vision celebrated World Environment Day with a difference. Our Specially abled children were involved in planting the fruit-bearing saplings on our campus. This year the theme was “Only One Earth”, focusing on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.
6. Giving Mobility: On 17th June 2022, The Project Vision Rural Campus facilitates mobility aid with wheelchairs for 15 children from the most vulnerable families. Thanks to FNF-India (Fidelity National Financial) and CHAI-LF (Catholic Health Association of India-Liliane Fondes) for the support. It is Joy to see them move from the confines of their tiny rooms to the world of hope.
7. Awareness of Legal Rights: Every person has his life and liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution. In order to promote the rights and well-being of persons/families with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, a half-day session was conducted. There were 42 parents who attended the meeting.
8. Completion of School Renovation: The PO had selected 5 schools for renovation. The PO could complete 4 schools, providing help for the basic facilities. The renovation includes toilet construction, welding, plumbing, painting, and electrical works. With this activity, 24 children with disabilities benefitted.
9. Providing IGP for 5 families: In order to strengthen the families in the Income Generating program, the PO had identified 5 families, this month these families were given a Goat each. This would help them to sustain themselves in a smaller way. Providing support to what they have.
10. School Eye-Screening program: Control of Childhood blindness is one of the priorities of WHO (World Health Organization). Many of the causes of blindness in children are either preventable or treatable. Uncorrected vision problems in children can worsen over time and result in permanent loss of vision. Thus Project Vision is aiming to reach out to Government schools, create awareness of eye-related issues, and screen the Eyes.
11. Musical Therapy for CWD: Musical Therapy can help these individuals to develop positive attitudes toward their disabilities and provide opportunities for personal growth. The use of vocal exercise used in singing can enhance oral motor skills such as articulation, breath control, and vocal intensity. In this regard, Project Vision is involved in giving this therapy, and the result is very satisfying to ‘bring smiles to these faces.
