International Day of Persons with Disabilities
International Day of Persons with Disabilities

1. International Day of Persons with Disabilities: This year (03.12.2021) the theme for IDPD is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 World”. The Project Vision, Rural campus celebrated the day with Special Children and their families. The day was colorful with cultural activities performed by Children with disabilities. It was an opportunity for the children to exhibit their God-given talents and tell the world that, they are just ‘differently ABLE’. The event was graced by Dr. Venkatasubramanian, the director of Rangalakshmi Nethralaya Yelahanka, Rtn Jayaraman, Arasapur Panchayath President RamaKrishnappa and VRWs. The children were given prizes and Food kits.

2. Renovation of Houses (Children with Disabilities): To create an better living conditions and to provide accessible environment, The Project vision renovated two houses of children with Disabilities. 

3. Self-Employment Training Programme: On 15th of December 2021the Project Vision Rural campus conducted a half day session on Self-Employment Training program for the parents of children with disabilities. The session was conducted by Mrs. LaxhmiDevamma. The participants were given awareness to start small income generating activities, such as; Soap, candle, phenyl making, etc. there were 40 participants in the workshop.  

4. Light the Nation (Solar Power to Tribal Hamlets): As part of the #Light the Nation initiative launched by a non-profit organization Karmodaya and The Project Vision, electricity connection has been provided to 312 homes in remote hamlets of Nagrahole in Mysore. Under this initiative, each household got a solar kit consisting of 2 light bulbs, 1 tube light, a socket to charge a cell phone and solar panel with installation.

5. Cataract Surgeries: The Project Vision makes continuous effort to reach out to the elderly persons who needs cataract surgeries. During this last 3-4 months, we could help more than 80 persons to do the cataract surgery and get back the clearer vision. Thanks for your support in doing this beautiful mission in giving sight, giving life.

6. Skill Development Training in Tailoring: As part of ‘Empowering the Rural Women’ in collaboration with HID India (Powering Trusted Identities), the Project Vision inaugurated the Tailoring Unit on 17th of February 2022. The project will train 100 women in next 4-5 months.

7. International Women’s Day: on March 8th International Women’s day. This year the theme is #BreakTheBias. The Project Vision Rural Campus celebrated the women’s day by honoring and acknowledging the services of women representatives of the fields of Law, village Governance, Health, Accredited  Social Health Activist Program (ASHA) and Village Rehabilitation.

8. Daycare Centre for Children with disabilities:A disable in the family means the whole family is disable. In this regard the knowing the need of this rural areas, on 11th of January 2022, inaugurated the Day Care Centre for about 25 children with disabilities in the remote villages of Tumkur and Chikkaballapur districts. The purpose is to enable children with disabilities to learn the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and free their parents to work and earn.
