With the generous support of our donors, our School Infrastructure & Environment initiative is helping schools create safer, healthier, and more supportive learning environments for girls.
Donor funding is supporting the improvement of girl-friendly sanitation facilities, including private latrines with secure doors and locks. Access to safe and dignified sanitation is particularly important for adolescent girls, especially during menstruation. By improving privacy, hygiene, and security at school, we are helping girls feel more comfortable attending classes consistently and participating confidently in school life.
Your support is also helping schools establish handwashing stations, strengthening hygiene practices and creating cleaner learning environments. These facilities contribute to the health, dignity, and well-being of girls while promoting positive hygiene practices across the entire school community.
In addition, small grants to schools are helping establish and strengthen girls' clubs and safe spaces where girls can receive mentorship, share concerns, learn about their rights, build confidence, and access guidance on issues affecting their education and development. These spaces provide an important support network for girls who may otherwise face challenges in silence.
The impact extends beyond infrastructure. Together, these interventions are helping address some of the practical barriers that contribute to absenteeism and school dropout among vulnerable girls. They are creating schools where girls can learn with greater dignity, safety, confidence, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Thank you to our donors for investing in school environments where every girl has a better opportunity to remain in school, learn, thrive, and build a brighter future.
