Creating a girl-friendly school environment requires more than classrooms and textbooks. Girls also need access to basic menstrual hygiene resources, water, handwashing facilities, information, and supportive adults who understand the challenges they may experience.
F SSIBU Mission Foundation is working with vulnerable communities through Keep Her in School to address these needs. We provide menstrual materials to girls while supporting schools with water cans and handwashing detergents. These resources help strengthen menstrual hygiene practices and give girls greater confidence when managing their periods during the school day.
Alongside material support, our team provides mentorship and education. Girls receive guidance on menstrual health, hygiene, confidence, and overcoming stigma. These conversations provide an opportunity for girls to express concerns that they may otherwise keep hidden.
We also believe that schools cannot address menstrual stigma alone. Parents play an important role in helping girls understand menstruation positively. Through parent engagement, we encourage families to communicate openly with girls and create homes where menstrual questions can be discussed without embarrassment or judgment.
Our ambition is to expand this work to more schools serving vulnerable children and adolescents.
For donors, supporting this initiative means contributing to a practical approach that connects materials, hygiene, mentorship, family engagement, and education.
Together, we can help build school environments where girls are not forced to choose between managing their periods and continuing their education. Your support can help us reach more schools and make menstrual dignity part of every girl’s educational journey.
