All of WOW 6 in houses and some of WOW 7
By Obora, Dalmas Odedo | WOW Supervisor

Since February we are now working with 11 young people in Wow 7 while we work with 7 young mothers in the Proud Moms Programme. All the young mothers and all of WOW 6 are in houses. 4 of the 11 WOW 7 youth are in houses and over the next couple of months we will ensure that they all are in houses. For the young mothers they are housed in two locations which are close to Edwina Gateley House so that they haven't far to travel each day. Two mums are doing business selling coffee and mandazi and two mums will shortly be beginning hair and beauty training.
In the photos you can see the whole team of WOW 7, Proud Moms, volunteers and staff as well as some visitors from Nairobi and Ireland. Also the picture of "John" an earlier WOW member receiving some extra household items. "John" has returned to doing barbery training which he had started some time ago.
As always thanks to those who continue to support us on the GlobalGiving platform. Your support is making a difference to the lives of these young people.

Planning for Housing of WOW 6 members
By Odalo Dalmas | WOW Supervisor

For the past month the WOW 6 group have begun their WOW journey. As of now we have 10 young people on the programme. This is running paralel with our Proud Mums project where a number of the young women from WOW 5 have continued to stay with us through pregnancy or while their children are young. These girls have all been housed now.
At this stage of the programme initial assessments of the WOW 6's have taken place and over the next month or so we will arrange for them to begin to be housed.
Over time we also have to review existing housing arrangements as from time to time there can be challenges with neighbours or other WOW members that we may have settled in a particular village or place.
We hope that the upcoming Giving Tuesday fundraiser will boost funds available for this activity.
Thanks again to everyone for supporting this and our other Association of Mission Volunteers projects. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday season.

Thanks to your help - Happy to report all WOW 5 members now off the streets and in houses!

Today marks the day when the last of our WOW 5 members moves into their own house. Joan and Sarah (not their real names) today were happy to finally be away from the streets and in their own house. Joan has a 4 month old daughter, Achieng and Sarah is due to give birth next month. For the past few weeks both girls have stayed at the emergency accommodation which we have at Edwina Gateley House. Their new house is just a ten minute walk away from Edwina Gateley House.
As we continue to raise funds for the project each house has doubled up with the young people sharing for now. Likewise in relation to furnishing we hope to give more items as further funds are raised.
For the past month we had the pleasure of a volunteer from Ireland, Ursula, spending time with us at WOW. From Day 1 she fitted right in with the staff and the "Wowsers". Among many other things during the month Ursula taught practically the whole WOW 5 group how to play chess. Last night we had her farewell with a barbeque and an outside move showing the "Queen of Katwe" which was greatly enjoyed. Thanks Ursula!
So on behalf of the WOW members thanks to everyone who has supported this project.
