As Costalegre Clínica de Maternidad approaches its first anniversary, we want to share what your support has helped build.
When Ana* first walked into our clinic, she was a young teenager, newly pregnant and unsure what lay ahead. Our midwives walked alongside her through 13 prenatal visits, watching closely over her health and her baby’s. When labor came, she gave birth safely at our clinic, surrounded by the same team she had come to trust. During her first week as a mother, we visited her at home. She and her baby kept coming back to us for checkups, and when she was ready, she chose a long-term birth control method so she can decide if and when to have another child. Ana’s future is still wide open, and that is what continuous care makes possible.

Her story is one of many. Between October 2025 and September 2026, our midwives provided:
In that same year, 41 babies were born to families in our care, 31 of them at our clinic.
The results show what continuous, midwife-led care can do. Of the 32 women who began labor at our clinic, only one needed a cesarean, about 3%. In Mexico, more than 50% of all births are by cesarean. More than half of our mothers had eight or more prenatal visits with our team. No baby needed significant resuscitation, and 88% of newborns breastfed within their first hour, a strong start for health and bonding.
Safe care also means knowing when a hospital is the right place. When a mother needed a higher level of care, before or during labor, our midwives went with her and coordinated with the hospital team. Families were never left to navigate the system alone.
What’s next: We are preparing to welcome a full-time OB-Gyn, who will also practice at Nuevo Hospital Comunitario La Huerta. This strengthens the bridge between our clinic and hospital care, so we can follow higher-risk mothers through pregnancy and postpartum.
Thank you. To our first donors, and especially our monthly supporters: you are why a family who cannot afford care still receives it. A gift of $100 covers a midwife’s salary for a day, and $40 provides prenatal lab testing for one woman. If you can, please share this project with a friend or consider becoming a monthly donor.
With gratitude,
Nicole Werner and the CCM team
