10 year old Kalidoss is residing in 16, Nehruji Nagar, Ariyamangalam Zone, Trichirappalli District, Tamil Nadu. His father suffered from TB and he died. His Mother is working as a construction worker. He has two elder brothers. They studied up to 5th standard then stopped studying and started working. His eldest brother is working as a lorry cleaner and second brother is working in a wood carving shop.
Kalidoss says “I don’t like my brothers activities, attitudes and their characters. They don not bother about our family and are little worried about my education. They don’t support my mother and fights with her whenever she asks money for my education asking her to stop my studies. So when I completed my fourth I had to discontinue my studies. That’s how I stopped going to school and started Collecting waste Plastics.”
When NEW LIFE Field workers saw him collecting him the wastes they had a chat with him to find out his family situation. Then they met with the mother and told her to send her son to school instead of waste plastic collection. It was very difficult to convince the mother due to their poor financial conditions. But due to the persistent efforts of the NEW LIFE team she was convinced and Kalidoss was admitted in 5th standard in Child Labour Special School, Ariyamangalam.
After he started going to the special school, there has been a drastic change in the way he looks and his attitude towards life has changed positively. Education along with nutritious food has made a remarkable change in the life of Kalidoss. This is made possible only with the help of donations made by noble hearts like you and so many Kalidosses are given an opportunity to improve their self esteem, sense of pride, confidence and motivation to continue their education.
