Maheswari
Thank you dear donors, for choosing to support our project.
Maheswari is a 10 years old girl. She is studying 5th standard in New Life’s special school now. Her father’s name is S. Sekar. He is selling ice cream in Karur. He never takes care of Maheswari. Three years before Maheswari’s mother died. After that Maheswari had to live with her grand mother. Grand mother did not send Maheswari to school, asked her to do household works and sent her for rag picking.
During her leisure times Maheswari will be wandering in the streets. New Life staff saw her spending her childhood like this and talked with her. She expressed her interest to study. Then we had to counsel her grandmother who was very reluctant to admit Maheswari to the special school. After continuous counselling Maheswari is now admitted in New Life’s special school for child labourers in Ukkadai. In the beginning she was not able to read or write. She is studying in our school for two years. Now she can read newspapers and others books also. She helps younger children to read and write. She is much interested in handwork.
Since she is picking up her studies quickly we hope she will be admitted to the sixth standard next year. She is now happy that she can study and play with children of her age. So many such children could be helped to get educated with the noble support from people like you.
Kindly spread words about our work to your friends and relatives who are like-minded. We thank you donors, once again for supporting us.

Her mother is having illegal affair with Mr.Mohan and she least cared about the children. Uma’s eldest brother Rajesh is 15 year old and he is a construction worker. Having developed hatred for his mother he never comes home. The other three children Rajeswari - 11years old, Uma Maheswari – 8 years old and Chinnu Mani – 7 years old collected waste paper and earned money. The youngest brother Elumalai is 4 years old and he went with his sisters and brother while going to collect waste paper. Vijayalakshmi is a construction worker and she spent all the money she has for Mohan and not even a penny is spent for the children. New life’s staff came to know about them and gave continuous counseling to Vijayalakshmi. Now the children are admitted in our Child labour special school in Ariyamagalam. The youngest one is admitted to our early learning center. Our special school teacher Mrs. Selvi says that the children are happy only in the school. Now the three children are getting good meal with education and they are happily playing with other children.

This Child is supported by "YOU"
By F. Beatrice Vanaja | Chief Administrative Officer
Vikram is 12 years old boy residing in 12, Kamaraj Nagar, Ariyamangalam, Tiruchirappalli District, Tamil Nadu. He was enjoying all the love, care and affection of his father as the only child. His father died in an accident in 2001. After his father’s death his mother got remarried and she gave birth to a girl child. Now his mother and his step father are concentrating only on the girl child and they least care for Vikram. This made Vikram a rag picker and he started to take care of himself as he did not get enough food. The mother could not educate Vikram as the step father is not supportive. Our New Life team identified him and gave a continuous counseling to him and his mother. Now he is studying 5th standard in our child labour special school. After a few counseling sessions his mother is also taking care of him.
Our special school teacher Mrs. Selvi says that in the beginning Vikram was arrogant and never obeyed the teacher, and quarreled with other children often. After some time, there is a drastic change in his attitude. Education along with nutritious food has made a remarkable change in the life of Vikram. This is made possible only with the help of donations made by noble hearts like you and so many Vikrams are given an opportunity to improve their self esteem, sense of pride, confidence and motivation to continue their education.
