On Wednesday, June 13th, GlobalGiving will be matching all donations by 50%! This is a fantastic opportunity to keep the students learning and their teachers employed.
Your donations keep books in students’ hands, provide teachers’ salaries, and ensure that students have the skills they need to find work and build a better future. We hope that on Wednesday you’ll continue your support of these inspiring students by giving what you can. Every donation, whatever its size, helps us keep the school open and growing.
If you can’t donate yourself, you can still help by letting others know about this fantastic matching opportunity. Please email friends and family or spread the word on Facebook.
Thanks so much for all you’ve already given, and our warmest regards.

Our Haitian led English programme continues to change lives, showing once again that together, volunteers and disaster survivors can bring about long-term, positive change.
Recently, students who joined the school a little late took their exams, and once again, more than 70% of those who took the test advanced to the next level!
We wanted to bring this fantastic result home by featuring the voice of Berline Louima. We asked Berline to tell us how English is changing her life, and this is what she said:
According to me, the benefits of the English classes are tremendous. Some years ago, I couldn’t speak English. When I finished with school, a friend of mine asked me to teach English in high school. I was afraid to do that, but this year, I teach without any problem, because my English classes help me to speak and able to teach. Thanks the staff.
As more students pass exams and obtain advanced qualification in English, we’re looking forward to more success stories like Berline's.
You made Berline's success possible with your donations – you allowed us to train the teachers, develop the curriculum, and organize the school. As the school grows, we hope you’re very proud of what you’ve achieved in Haiti.
Thank you so much for all you’ve given, and our warmest regards.
What a fantastic period of growth the English Programme has entered! Since our international volunteers departed in December 2011, the students have been passing their exams and two advanced students have already used their new English skills to find employment!
This is an extraordinary achievement in such a short time, and we expect these two talented students to be the first of many.
You’ve made the school’s success possible. This Mother’s Day, whether you’re giving or receiving, we hope you’ll take a little extra joy in the lives you’ve changed in Haiti.
If you’re planning on giving a Mother’s Day gift this year, please consider keeping the English school in mind and making a donation in honour of your mum. When you donate as a gift, GlobalGiving will send your mom a lovely card. Cards can be emailed, printed at home, or mailed.
A GlobalGiving tribute card makes a fantastic, meaningful mother’s day gift, and as a bonus, GlobalGiving will be awarding financial prizes for the organisation which receives the most mother’s day donations between May 1st and May 7th.
We hope that this mother’s day, you’ll choose to give mom a gift that also helps Haitian children build a better tomorrow. You can easily send your gift by clicking here.
Thanks so much for all you’ve already given to support education in Haiti, and our warmest regards from Port au Prince.

Since EDV’s international volunteers left Haiti in December 2011, the English programme has been absolutely thriving.
In late January, the students completed their first round of exams and the results speak for themselves. Of the 80 students who took the exam, 73 passed and will advance to the next level.
These results speak volumes about how well the Haitian teachers and administrators are doing, and we’re delighted with their accomplishments. The school is a great example of how the support of donors like you can increase local capacity and bring about long-term change.
We’re looking forward to welcoming more students in the coming months, and we hope you are too! Your generosity pay the teachers’ salaries and keeps more than 140 students in class and learning the skills they need to build a better tomorrow.
Thanks so much for all you’ve given, and our warmest regards from Haiti!

As 2011 draws to a close, we can’t believe all that you’ve helped us achieve. With your support, we’ve been able to enroll 120 students in English classes. Much remains to be done, but thanks to your generosity, 120 Haitian students will be able to start 2012 with hope.
As we approach Christmas, we hope you’ll feel a little extra joy in the gifts you’ve given to Haitian earthquake survivors.
One last time, we’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to you for your generosity over the past year. Merry Christmas, and we hope you have the happiest of New Years.
