Summary of Activities

Since the last report, Generation Aid has continued to advance the Digital Generation Jobs programs to expand economic opportunities for refugees in Kakuma. These activities directly support youth and women who face barriers to education, employment, and self-reliance.

Digital Skills and Remote Work Training

  • Continued digital literacy and remote-work readiness sessions with enrolled refugee youth.

  • Participants are actively engaging in structured modules covering computer literacy, online communication tools, and remote job platforms.

  • The Jobs Hub workspace is fully operational, providing a stable environment for learning and peer collaboration.

Tailoring & Dressmaking Training

  • Tailoring classes are delivered weekly, with trainees producing sample garments as part of skills development.

  • Entrepreneurship sessions equip participants with small-business basics including costing, customer service, and product marketing.

  • Collaborative sessions facilitate peer learning and feedback to reinforce practical competencies.

Outputs and Reach

  • Training sessions conducted: [Insert number]

  • Digital literacy hours delivered: [Insert number]

  • Tailoring practical hours delivered: [Insert number]
These figures reflect continued engagement and serve as a foundation for further outcomes tracking.

Beneficiary Story

A young woman participant shared how training has affected her confidence and future prospects. Prior to enrolling, she lacked access to stable livelihood opportunities and spent most days idle in the camp. With the digital skills training, she has begun exploring freelance work online, and tailoring classes have helped her create garments she now sells to neighbors. She expressed renewed hope for earning income and supporting her family’s needs.

Challenges and Adjustments

  • Reliable internet connection and digital equipment remain constraints that limit training scalability.

  • Demand for programs continues to exceed current enrollment capacity.
To adapt, we are optimizing schedule rotations and seeking additional devices to expand access.

Next Steps

In the upcoming quarter, Generation Aid will:

  • Introduce advanced digital modules tailored to remote work platforms and portfolio development.

  • Establish partnerships with online employment platforms to link trainees to remote job opportunities.

  • Increase intake capacity, prioritizing vulnerable youth and women.
