Empowering Indigenous Youth for a Healthy Future

Since our last update, Rising Minds has continued to build upon the foundations we laid at the beginning of 2024, further expanding our impact within the San Juan La Laguna community. Our dedication to health, wellness, and social-emotional learning (SEL) remains at the core of our mission, and we are pleased to share the progress we’ve made.

Building on our initial series of workshops, we have expanded our health and wellness programming to reach a broader segment of the community. We introduced advanced workshops that delve deeper into topics such as mental health and chronic disease prevention. These new sessions were developed in response to feedback from participants who expressed a desire for more in-depth knowledge and practical strategies to manage their health.

Our SEL programming has continued to evolve, with a particular focus on applying the skills of self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution in real-life scenarios. Additionally, we’ve integrated SEL components into our Cultural Immersion program, enabling participants to experience and navigate diverse social situations within the community.

As we move forward, we are excited to continue refining and expanding our programs based on the evolving needs of San Juan La Laguna. We remain deeply committed to our mission and are grateful for the ongoing support of our donors, partners, and volunteers. Together, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Recognizing the importance of SEL in personal development, Rising Minds integrated SEL components into its educational programs. Through storytelling, role-playing, and group discussions, participants learned valuable skills such as self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution.

In addition to the ongoing initiatives, Rising Minds has dedicated significant time and resources to embark on a comprehensive rediscovery process aimed at analyzing and understanding the evolving needs of the community. Through this process, we are delving deeper into the socioeconomic and cultural fabric of San Juan La Laguna to better inform our programming in this post pandemic landscape.
