Empower Kenyan AGYW for Climate Health Resilience
Project Report
We are grateful for the opportunity to share an update on our project, Empower Kenyan AGYW for Climate Health Resilience.
Our project aims to strengthen the resilience of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Siaya, Kenya by addressing the intersection between climate change, health, livelihoods, and economic empowerment. We envision a future where young women and girls are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to respond to the growing health and economic challenges brought about by climate change.
Our Progress So Far
During this reporting period, we have continued to strengthen the foundation for the project while seeking the resources needed to begin full-scale implementation. At this stage, we have not yet received sufficient donations through the project to launch all the planned activities.
However, we remain committed to ensuring that a lack of immediate funding does not stop us from working toward our vision. We have therefore been exploring innovative and sustainable approaches that can help generate resources to support the project and, eventually, reduce dependence on external funding alone.
Exploring Smart Aquaculture for Sustainability
One of the approaches we are exploring is smart aquaculture as a potential income-generating and sustainability initiative.
Through climate-smart aquaculture, we hope to develop a sustainable model that can generate resources to support our broader work with adolescent girls and young women. In the long term, such an initiative could also create opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship, and livelihoods while demonstrating practical ways communities can adapt to changing environmental conditions.
Our goal is to build an initiative that not only supports fundraising for the project but also aligns with our commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development.
Looking Ahead
While our progress has been slower than we initially hoped due to limited funding, our commitment to the girls and young women this project seeks to serve remains strong.
As we continue exploring sustainable fundraising approaches such as smart aquaculture, we are also working to raise awareness about the project and connect with individuals and partners who believe in empowering young women to become more resilient in the face of climate and health challenges.
Every contribution, partnership, and expression of support can help move this vision closer to reality. With adequate resources, we hope to begin implementing activities that will equip AGYW with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need to protect their health, strengthen their livelihoods, and build resilience in a changing climate.
Thank You
To everyone who has taken the time to learn about and support Empower Kenyan AGYW for Climate Health Resilience, thank you. Your interest and encouragement mean a great deal to us as we continue building the foundation for this important work.
We believe that empowering adolescent girls and young women is an investment in healthier, stronger, and more climate-resilient communities. We remain hopeful and committed to turning this vision into meaningful and lasting impact.
Thank you for believing in the potential of Kenyan girls and young women.
