Dhanapushpam, Physical Education
Teacher (P.E.T) at Isha Vidhya Nagercoil,
has been doing wonders, training
winners in individual and team sports
over the past five years. In 2019-20,
the school won the First prize at the
zonal level in 15 individual events, and
8 prizes in team events. The school
walked away with 41 prizes at the
zonal level in that year!
Dhanapushpam was interested in
Sports from her childhood. She was
influenced by a relative who was
a successful sportsperson. As a
student, she participated in a running
event at the District level and won
the First prize. This was a turning
point in her life. She started focusing
on a career as aSports Trainer. She
completed her B.P. Ed. and M.P. Ed.
to become a passionate Physical
Education teacher.
At Isha Vidhya, her day starts at
07:30 AM with a regular workout
and practice for sports-loving
students, followed by training
students throughout the day.
She does the workout again in
the evening with interested
students before she calls it a
day. Her enthusiasm for training
well shines through when
she accompanies her students
unasked for outstation
competitions.
Dhanapushpam is constantly
on lookout for students who
show interest and enthusiasm
in sports, and motivates them
to strive for excellence, engaging
them with the benefits of good
health, and perhaps the
opportunity to land a secure
Government job if they win at
the District, State, or National
level.
Dhanapushpam says she feels
proud when students from other
schools acknowledge Isha Vidhya's
Sports excellence at sport meets
and when her neighborhood
children wish they could study at
Isha Vidhya for their sports.
She finds her journey with Isha
Vidhya gratifying and a great
opportunity for self-development.

Srimeena ran faster than the other
150 participants and won the first
prize at the inter-school sports meet
in 2018-19. She is inspired to run
like her idol P.T. Usha and has
dreams of becoming a professional
athlete, and participating in sports
not just at the national level, but also
winning laurels for the country.
She has won prizes in Running,
Long Jump, High Jump, and Kho Kho
at the school and zonal levels and
says that the motivation of her parents,
friends, and teachers drives her to do
well in studies and sports.
Srimeena, who's studying at Isha Vidhya
Dharmapuri in Grade 10, is a class
topper, and is now studying hard for
her board exams. But sports being her
passion, Srimeena worked out regularly
during the lockdown to stay in shape
for the upcoming tournaments.

Cognizant Outreach partnered with
Isha Vidhya to train faculty on
Digital Skills. 60 Cognizant Outreach
volunteers conducted two virtual
training courses for 374 Isha Vidhya
faculty members across 10 district
in Tamil Nadu, training them on using
the Microsoft Office suite, creating
digital content, using social media
effectively, and staying safe online.
The training included the ‘Digital
Mastery’ module to enable them to
use smartphones and computers
effectively and the ‘Digital Teaching’
module to empower them with tools
and techniques to enhance student
engagement and learning outcomes
during virtual teaching sessions.
This initiative has positively impacted
over 8,000 students.

Jayanandhana has won several
prizes at the zonal and district
levels in Shot Put and Discus
Throw and was part of the
Handball team that won at the
state level in the previous
academic year.
This Grade 9 student from
Isha Vidhya Nagercoil studies
hard and trains harder to improve
her performance in sports – even
staying back after school for
practice. She closely watches
sports videos to assimilate the
techniques and movements used
by champions to improve her
performance.
Jayanandhana is inspired by
Cristiano Ronaldo. She credits
her Physical Education teachers
and her family's support and
encouragement for her sports
achievements. She wants to
become a national level athlete.
She says she misses training at
school and is currently following
an exercise regimen to keep in
shape.
But it's not just sports that
Jayanandhana wants to excel in;
she also wants to become a doctor.

Republic Day Of India was celebrated
in all Isha Vidhya schools, in compliance
with the government’s Covid-19 protocols.
Welcoming of the Chief Guests, flag hoisting,
singing of the National Anthem, speeches
of the Chief Guests and Principals of the
respective schools took place as per the
tradition. Some schools distributed prizes
to the students who topped the Grade 10
examinations.
Since most of the students are still studying
from home, they were not present in the
functions. The school staff were present.
We are attaching the pictures of the
celebrations.
We thank you for your support to
Isha Vidhya, and look forward for
your continued support. If you would
like to volunteer for any of our ongoing
efforts, please write to us over email at
