Nishanthini loves talking and has compered
at school functions and celebrations. She has
also participated in drama competitions in
school and won prizes. She says that her
teachers helped her in identifying her talent
and motivating her to hone it.

In her keenness for this vocation, she listens
to FM radio on the mobile and watches music
channels and live anchoring shows on TV, and
is inspired to follow in the footsteps of popular
TV anchors like Vijay TV's Priyanka.

Nishanthini joined Isha Vidhya Cuddalore in
UKG on a scholarship and is now in Grade 10.
Her parents are grateful for the quality
education, scholarship, safety, free transport,
mid-day meal, and teachers' care that their
daughter receives.

Nishanthini is driven to excel due to her
family's economic condition – her father
is a daily wage earner. She has been a class
leader and a class topper; she hopes to excel
in Grade 10 too.

UKG: Upper Kindergarten.

Aarthi, a Class 11 student of Isha Vidhya
Salem, was drawn to architecture and
interior design during a school field trip
to the Airavateswara temple at Tanjavur,
Dharasuram, a few years back.

She says, “I was impressed by the
intricate designs on the walls of the
temples and thought I should pursue
this as a career.” She then began browsing
the Internet and was amazed by the
temples at Mahabalipuram. This cemented
her desire to study architecture.

Aarthi has been a class topper and has
also won prizes in throw ball and tennikoit
at the zonal level. She says that her teachers’
encouraging words, “You can do it, you
have such good skills,” inspire her to do
well in academics.

She aims to do well in Class 12 and gain
admission to Anna University, Chennai,
and become an architect with innovative
styles for common good. She also wants
to build low-cost housing for the poor.

Harisri watches cartoons avidly
and loves the Smurfs cartoon.
When she won a prize in an art
competition, it motivated her
further. No one in her family is
artistically inclined but she is
intent on pursuing an
undergraduate course in
animation after Grade 12.

Harisri is a scholarship student
who joined Isha Vidhya Erode
in LKG. Now in Grade 11,
Harisri was a class leader and
class topper in Grade 10 with
a score of 94%. Her family
members, teachers, friends, and
her family situation inspire her
to do well. She says that her
teachers are like mothers nudging
their children to wakefulness and
that they've constantly helped her
overcome her shortcomings to do
well academically.

LKG is the short form for
Lower Kindergarten.

Priyadarshini, a Class 9 student
of Isha Vidhya Cuddalore has
been interested in art and craft
since childhood. The daughter
of a fisherman, she discovered
natural colors when she couldn't
find any artificial colors at home
and now uses nothing else to
paint.

She discovered her calling at
Isha Vidhya in the craft class,
where she learned to make
artifacts out of newspaper and
dried coconut tree waste,
among other materials. She is
inspired by both local art and
Indian art forms that she
learned about in the art & craft
class at school.

A few years ago, her works that
were displayed at Sadhguru's
yoga program in Texas, US,
helped raise funds for Isha
Vidhya. Besides winning first
prize in an art & craft competition
hosted by noted film art director
Suresh Selvaraj last year,
Priyadarshini has consistently
won prizes at inter-school art
competitions.

She wants to take an art course
after Class 12 to hone her
creative skills, and then she wants
to make and sell handicrafts to
help poor students. Priyadarshini's
parents are proud of her talent
and support her.

Deebha has been dabbling
with colors since childhood,
encouraged by parents,
despite the fact that no one
in her family is artistically
inclined. She enjoys painting
landscapes the most and
prefers to use pastel colors
because she believes they
give her drawings a more
natural look. Naturally, the
art and craft class is dear to
her, and her favorite artist
is Raja Ravi Varma.

Deebha has won awards at
both the national and district
levels in art competitions, and
she was also chosen for the
wall painting at Chennai Airport
for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
This multi-talented student has
also won awards in scientific
and athletic competitions. She
says that the numerous art
competitions held at school as
well as various locations has
helped her hone her skills while
receiving encouragement and
motivation from her teachers.

A Class 11 student at Isha Vidhya
Villupuram, Deebha is studying on
a merit scholarship for her
above-average grades in Class 10.

She intends to pursue further
studies in Computer Science while
continuing to nurture her love of
painting.
