EMPOWERING GIRLS

Ladies joining the skills training workshop

In the past couple of months, we have been going around the urban slums and impoverished communities to visit the girls. We sit down with them to listen, advise them and encourage them to be better versions of themselves. We still continue to supply them with sanitary towels whenever our well wishers support us. To mark this year's 'International Day of the Girl Child', we held a huge mentorship program at our centre which hosted many teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The girls we visit and mentor share with us their challenges and hopes about overcoming them. A major challenge for the older teenagers who have either finished or dropped out of school is employment. Many young girls are forced into selling their bodies or engaging in crime to make a living, while others fall into drug abuse to escape reality. The lack of skills or proper education makes it hard for them to get a proper job. We are happy to have patnered with a well wisher from Denmark through whom a group of girls will undergo a months training on skills such as home care givers. After the training we will furthure aid them in looking for proper employment. The girls are happy to be getting an opportunity that will help them to become self sufficient in the long run.

Our main agenda as an organization remains to be the rehabilitation of abused and needy women and girls. It is through this spirit that we wiil be launching our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan in a fortnite. The plan involves offering patnership opportunities in building  Safe shelters across different counties in the country. This was after a realization that most counties do not have a singel shelter despite thousands of rising GBV cases in Kenya. We will continue to support and empower as many women and girls as we can.

We are very grateful to all our donors and well wishers.
