ACTIVITY UPDATE REPORT SEASON FOR GIRLS PROGRAM
Program Title- Growing Girl leaders from every soil
Foreword
For a number of years, women in developing countries have continuously been victims of different forms of injustices. Violence, neglect, among other inequalities have always hindered the growth of women and young girls across the world. Amidst such a hostile environment, Woman’s Hope Foundation was created with sole purpose of addressing and eliminating these injustices.
Ten years after being created, the foundation continues to empower women through its diversified programs. The focus of Woman’s hope is to ensure financial, physical and social well-being of women and girls from vulnerable communities. The organization has designed programs that seek to identify and help provide the core needs for deprived women and their families.
One key project the foundation undertakes is known as The Season for girl’s project.
This is a program that envisions an environment where vulnerable girls from urban slums can be able to pursue their dreams without fear of discrimination or other forms obstacles. Part of the success of this project has been in its design. Advised by Girl caucuses within Woman’s Hope Projects, the program is tailored and implemented with their individual needs in consideration. Today, the program has impacted over 300 girls. Our work has diversified to include campaigns and education projects that have benefited adolescent girls especially those living in urban slums.
This report provides the last update of the season for girl’s Project for the year 2019

DECEMBER PROGRAM UPDATE
Our Season for Girls Forum in the month of December took place on the 2nd – 5th of December.
We were very lucky to have Googles local partners Train our girls on Online Safety
Mobile Internet penetration in Kenya is at an all-time high level of 72% in urban areas.
With numerous numbers of social sites and chat rooms, we noted that young girls are easy prey to these online predators.
The Internet has both the positive and the negative side we, therefore, saw the need for the girls to be educated on how to be smart online.
Our main goal is to promote awareness of social media and responsible internet usage.
The Need
Digital devices are great for instant communication with friends and family and our online world can be a fun place to socialize. However, the internet is a place where many unsafe people and situations can be found.
In an effort to reduce the risk to youth online, we talked to the Girls about the dark side of the internet.
Topics covered include safe posting dos and don’ts; sexting and the related legal and social risks; and online predators and grooming behaviors.
In other cases, sex offenders are reaching out to children through social media platforms and coercing them into sharing inappropriate or naked pictures of themselves, which is secretly captured and shared in the darkest corners of the internet
With this in mind, it is just as important to talk about online personal safety with our children as it is personal safety in the offline world.
We held graduation and a celebration day on the 14th of December where We celebrated the girl child and this was also to mark the end the 16 Day against GBV. We gifted the girls with Dignity packs which consist of 2 sanitary towels, 2Panties, 2 soaps, and 2 lotions.
Conclusion
Once again, we are thankful and we really appreciate our team of passionate change-makers who have continually strived to work with the girls to impact their lives through the year.
Special thanks to Google Africa Partners for the valuable time in sharing with the girls and the whole experience.
The passion of the season for girl’s implementation team, mentor partners and affiliate Organization has been at the core of our success.
We can’t forget to mention the wonderful community of donors who have supported this project through the Global Giving platform.
